[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The 2023 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT), which this year's high school freshmen will take, will be held on November 16.
On the 24th, the Ministry of Education announced the basic plan for the 2024 academic year CSAT. The test date is Thursday, November 16, and the scores will be notified on December 8.
The 'common + elective subjects' structure in the Korean language and mathematics sections will remain the same as this year's CSAT. The structure of taking two subjects out of 17 in the social and science inquiry areas is also unchanged.
The common subjects in the Korean language section (75%) are Reading and Literature, and the elective subjects (about 25%) include one choice among Speech and Writing, Language and Media. A total of 45 questions will be given, and the test duration is 80 minutes.
The common subjects in the mathematics section (75%) are Mathematics I and Mathematics II, and the elective subjects require choosing one among Probability and Statistics, Calculus, and Geometry. In the mathematics section, 30% of the 30 questions are short-answer type.
Korean History, English, Second Foreign Language, and Chinese Characters sections are graded on an absolute scale, with only grades indicated. Raw scores are divided into nine grades according to the fixed score distribution method. In addition, the Korean language, mathematics, English, and social and science inquiry sections provide standard scores, percentiles, and grades together.
If cheating occurs, the test will be invalidated, and the eligibility to take the 2025 CSAT will be revoked. Minor cheating cases determined by the Minister of Education will result in invalidation of only the current test.
The Korea Institute for Curriculum and Evaluation will specify these details and announce the basic plan for the 2024 CSAT by March 31, 2023.
