[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] Geumseong Publishing announced on the 24th that it has published the memoir "People Achieve Dreams Through Books" to commemorate the first anniversary of the late founder and former chairman Kim Nakjun.

The late Kim Nakjun, former chairman, was a first-generation publisher in South Korea who founded Geumseong Publishing in 1965 and dedicated his life to the development of book culture.

Born in 1932 in Uiseong, Gyeongbuk, he graduated from Angye Agricultural High School and managed Daegu Munhwa Bookstore in 1950. Later, in 1965, he established Geumseong Publishing and published high-quality books for children and youth, starting with "Children's First Steps."

He then introduced Geumseong Textbooks and Purunet educational services, transforming Geumseong Publishing into a comprehensive publishing education service company. Additionally, based on his artistic insight, he collected over 800 types of antiques and donated them to the Geumseong Cultural Foundation, contributing to the cultural and arts fields.

He served consecutive terms as the 40th and 41st president of the Korea Publishing Culture Association, leading the "Year of the Book" and the "New Wave Reading Movement," and raised tens of billions of won in funds to hold the "Reading Awards."

He also left significant marks on domestic book culture by publishing works such as the "Geumseong Color Student Encyclopedia" and the "Color Masterpiece Boys and Girls World Literature."

The memoir "People Achieve Dreams Through Books" is composed of three sections: "I. To Honor," containing recollections from various figures; "II. To Reflect," which includes the success story of rising from a poor bookstore employee to a publishing company founder; and "III. To Leave," recording intellectual and cultural heritage.

Geumseong Publishing and the Geumseong Cultural Foundation stated, "We have once again reflected on the teachings of Chairman Kim Nakjun, who devoted his life to making significant achievements in South Korea's educational publishing and cultural arts sectors," and added, "We are grateful to be able to share Chairman Kim Nakjun's passion and philosophy with many people."

"People Achieve Dreams Through Books" is scheduled to be donated to approximately 700 national and public libraries nationwide.
