[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Homeplus announced on the 24th that it has prepared 100 tons of newly harvested rice produced by major farms in Goheung and Naju, Jeonnam, and Cheongwon, Chungbuk, and will sell it at 9,990 won (3kg) at all stores nationwide.

Homeplus explained, "To get the newly harvested rice onto customers' tables as quickly as possible, we advanced the schedule significantly from sowing to harvest through pre-contracts with farms in the production areas." In particular, Goheung and Naju in Jeonnam have abundant sunlight and a mild climate, allowing for earlier harvesting of the newly harvested rice compared to other regions. They also noted that this year, there was almost no damage from heavy rain or typhoons, enabling faster procurement of larger quantities.
