[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Convenience store GS25 announced on the 23rd that it has partnered with pet funeral service company '21gram' to launch a 'Basic Pet Care Kit' that helps with pet corpse disposal and guides funeral procedures.
This kit includes a guidebook that informs about major symptoms before a pet passes away, corpse handling methods, funeral procedures, bone storage methods, and animal registration change (cancellation) procedures. It also contains basic care tools consisting of cleansing tissues and sterile gauze for corpse cleansing, as well as a waterproof carrying bag that can accommodate medium-sized dogs.
GS25 explained that the kit was prepared to provide guidance on farewell preparations and encourage legal funeral procedures for guardians who face difficulties with post-mortem measures such as illegal burial and illegal cremation, amid the increasing number of households raising pets each year.
The kit is priced at 9,900 won, initially available at about 1,000 stores in Seoul and Gyeonggi areas, with plans to expand nationwide later.
Cha Jeong-hyun, GS25 Service Planning MD, said, "Parting with a beloved pet like family is very sad, but we prepared this product so that guardians can properly cope with their pet’s final moments," adding, "A portion of the kit’s proceeds will be donated to abandoned dog protection organizations, and we plan to carry out social contribution activities for pets."
