On the 20th, according to the police, the Women and Juvenile Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency began a preliminary investigation into Mr. A, a man in his 60s, under the direction of the National Investigation Headquarters.
The police are expected to initiate a formal investigation if any grounds for suspicion are found following the preliminary inquiry.
According to a video posted by YouTuber Mr. B on his YouTube channel, Mr. A took Mr. B, who was disguised as a high school girl under the pretext of helping runaway youths, to his home and proposed sexual relations. In the video, Mr. A introduced himself as 29 years old and reportedly made statements implying he had multiple experiences of soliciting prostitution with minors, saying things like "elementary school students like it if you pay 200,000 to 300,000 won."
In the video, a certificate presumed to be an appointment letter indicating that Mr. A served as an organizational special advisor for candidate Moon Jae-in's campaign during the 19th presidential election was seen in Mr. A's home, sparking controversy mainly on online communities.
