[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] A petition has been posted claiming that the A family, owners of one of the nation's top three bakeries, forged an employment contract and forced false testimony from another employee to avoid industrial accident liability after a woman in her 60s collapsed while working.

On the 20th, a petition titled "A 61-year-old female worker collapsed. Please clear my wife's injustice" was posted on the Blue House National Petition website.

The petitioner introduced his wife as "a 61-year-old housekeeper, 158cm tall and weighing 45kg," stating, "She was working at the A family's residence and a hotel owned by the family when she suddenly collapsed from a cerebral hemorrhage last March."

He said, "The A family forged a standard employment contract that was never signed to avoid industrial accident liability, forced false testimony from a colleague, and even claimed that my wife collapsed after fighting with a coworker."

He continued, "What angers me even more is that the Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service branch denied my wife's industrial accident claim based on the illegally and fraudulently altered employment contract and the A family's one-sided statements. Moreover, the Workers' Compensation and Welfare Service never properly conducted an on-site investigation," raising his voice.

The petitioner appealed, "This company used illegal and fraudulent means to push a powerless worker and housekeeper to the brink. My wife, a worker and housekeeper who collapsed from a cerebral hemorrhage, cannot do any work now due to aftereffects. Why is the A family going this far? I hope you all will show that you cannot cover the sky with the palm of your hand."

Meanwhile, as of 8 p.m. on the 20th, the petition had received 1,370 endorsements.
