Futuristic and Sleek Coupe-Style CUV
"Providing a Distinctive Luxury EV Experience Based on Unique Brand Identity"
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] Genesis unveiled the design of its first dedicated electric vehicle, the 'GV60,' for the first time on the 19th.
The GV60 is a model based on Hyundai Motor Group's dedicated electric vehicle platform E-GMP and marks the beginning of Genesis's exclusive electric vehicle lineup.
Genesis explained that the GV60 embodies a sleek and dynamic design in a coupe-style CUV (Crossover Utility Vehicle) form, based on the brand's design identity of dynamic elegance.
The front of the GV60 features a refined and voluminous body with Genesis's signature dual-line quad lamps. Below the lamp level, a wider and more dynamic-shaped crest grille is placed to emphasize a high-performance image.
The hood features the newly introduced Genesis emblem for the first time. The new emblem, with a flat surface that reduces the thickness of the existing emblem by nearly 80%, is engraved with an intricate guilloch? pattern seen in luxury watches, blending analog sensibility with advanced technology.
The GV60 is the first Genesis model to apply a ‘Clamshell hood’ that integrates the hood and fender into a single panel, eliminating seams between body parts and creating a clean impression befitting a dedicated electric vehicle.
The side profile is characterized by a smooth and dynamic high-performance coupe style, with a concise and sharply refined silhouette from the front hood to the rear spoiler, adding a three-dimensional volume that emphasizes the high-performance image.
The rear features a two-line rear combination lamp that adds a sporty feel to the emotional and restrained body, and a fixed rear wing spoiler at the end of the coupe-style roof expresses a dynamic high-performance image.
Interior that simultaneously realizes spaciousness unique to electric vehicles with functionality and luxury
The interior design of the GV60 pursues spaciousness based on Genesis's interior design philosophy of ‘the beauty of emptiness,’ while differentiating its image with floating architecture and GV60-exclusive details.
The most eye-catching feature inside the GV60 is the spherical electronic shift knob, the Crystal Sphere.
The Crystal Sphere lights up with mood lighting when the ignition is off, providing aesthetic satisfaction to customers, and when started, the sphere rotates to reveal the shift control, creating an interior atmosphere as if boarding future mobility.
The floating console, where the Crystal Sphere is located, applies a design that appears to float in the air, and together with the slim cockpit and flat floor characteristic of dedicated electric vehicles, it offers passengers a maximized sense of interior space, the company emphasized.
Additionally, the wide and slimly designed crash pad (dashboard) enhances the comfortable interior space.
A Genesis official stated, “The GV60, Genesis's first dedicated electric vehicle, will provide a differentiated luxury electric vehicle experience based on its unique brand identity,” adding, “Detailed information on the vehicle’s new technologies and performance will be disclosed according to the launch schedule.”
