Gwangju Seo-gu Volunteer Center Conducts 'Dokdo Conscience Umbrella Making' Event

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shin Dong-ho] The Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Volunteer Center (Director Jo Man-ho) recently conducted a volunteer activity called ‘Love for the Country Family Volunteer Group Making Korea Dokdo Conscience Umbrellas.’

According to the Seo-gu Volunteer Center on the 17th, this volunteer activity was a non-face-to-face volunteer event planned to celebrate Liberation Day by understanding Dokdo, a territory of the Republic of Korea, together with families and making conscience umbrellas featuring Dokdo to practice love for the country.

This volunteer activity involved watching a video during pre-education explaining why Dokdo is our country’s territory and why we must protect Dokdo, writing reflections, then each family receiving a Korea Dokdo Conscience Umbrella making kit, making the umbrella at home non-face-to-face, and submitting it again.

Considering the sharp decrease in volunteer activities due to COVID-19 recently, the center conducted this as a non-face-to-face volunteer activity that families could participate in together at home. Following the Taegukgi Conscience Umbrella activity held on March 1st, the Korea Dokdo Conscience Umbrella making also received great love as a family volunteer activity.

The completed umbrellas will be shared free of charge as conscience umbrellas to those in need through the Seo-gu Volunteer Center, Seo-gu Office, and the Goods Sharing Center.
