Attention on 'Non-face-to-face Contest' to Fill Learning Gaps During Stay-at-Home Vacation

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] As the COVID-19 resurgence extends the period of staying at home, 'contactless contests' that allow safe sharing and participation in learning methods at home during summer vacation are gaining attention.

Chunjae Education's smart learning brand 'Milktea Middle School' is holding a 'Learning Know-how Contest' until the 15th.

This contest is designed so that any honor student can share their own learning know-how with other friends to have a positive influence on each other. Any regular Milktea learner can participate. Winners will be announced on the 23rd, and outstanding learning know-how may be processed later to create a casebook.

Yoon’s English is conducting the English speaking enhancement event 'Real Speech Contest Season 3' until the 27th. Now in its third year, this competition is divided into lower elementary, upper elementary, and middle school categories.

In particular, judging will be based on creativity, fluency, accuracy, and presentation skills, awarding a total of 3.63 million KRW worth of cultural gift certificates and ice cream gifticons to 363 participants. Any member attending Yoon’s English Forest, Yoon’s IGSE Academy, or other Yoon’s English academies can participate.

Participants select one topic from each category, record an English speaking video of about one minute using a mobile phone or Zoom, upload it to their personal Instagram or YouTube, and then submit the video link on the Yoons.com event page to enter.

A contest introducing 'My Life Reading Book' was also held. Hansol Education’s elementary brand Hansol Platon is running the 'My Life Reading Book Contest' for members, parents, and directors until the 30th.

Participants introduce a reading book that influenced their life through videos and writings containing their own thoughts, and upload it on their Instagram or blog with the mandatory hashtags 'HansolPlaton' and 'MyLifeReadingBook'.

Recommended reading books will be donated to children’s libraries or welfare centers in need of books. The first 100 participants in the reading book contest will receive a 5,000 KRW convenience store gift certificate, and the 10 most popular participants will receive a 20,000 KRW convenience store gift certificate.

A video contest creatively expressing math concepts will also be held. Haebup Edu’s Smart Haebup Math is hosting the '3rd Math Concept Speaking Contest' until the 22nd. The contest is divided into ▲Elementary grades 1-3 ▲Elementary grades 4-6 ▲Middle school categories.

Participants create explanatory videos about math concepts, upload them to YouTube, register the video link on the event page, and share it on their personal social networking services (SNS). Winning works will be evaluated based on accurate concept explanation, communication skills, creativity, expressiveness, and confidence, with final results announced on September 15.

A Hansol Education representative said, "One grand prize winner (team), two excellence award winners (teams), and four merit award winners (teams) will receive prizes including cultural gift certificates, and all participants will be awarded certificates."
