For Single-Person Households Worried About Trespassing... Seoul City Offers Half-Price Support for 'Door Cameras'

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Seoul Metropolitan Government is partnering with ADT Caps to launch the 'Door Keeper' support project, which provides security camera installation costs for single-person households.

On the 13th, Seoul City and ADT Caps signed a business agreement at the city hall main building and announced that they will install security devices and provide emergency dispatch services to 3,000 single-person households.

The service fee is 9,900 KRW per month for three years, which is about half the market price (18,750 KRW). During the usage period, Seoul City will verify resident registration and rental status for the first year and support a monthly fee of 8,900 KRW. Applicants can use the service for 1,000 KRW per month during the first year.

Users can check the situation in front of their door in real time through a dedicated mobile app using the door camera installed on the front door. The motion detection sensor detects loiterers in front of the door in real time and sends alerts. It also has two-way voice communication, allowing users to talk with visitors. If an abnormal signal is detected by the door camera or the SOS emergency button is pressed on the mobile app to request dispatch, a dispatch officer will visit. Each dispatch request incurs a fee of 25,000 KRW.

The Door Keeper support project will start in September. The service and application methods will be announced on the Seoul City or district office websites and the Seoul single-person household portal. Eligible applicants are single-person households aged 18 or older residing in rental housing in Seoul. The program targets all single-person households regardless of gender.

Seoul City plans to establish a cooperative system with the autonomous police to respond to serious crimes that security companies find difficult to handle.
