[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Seohyun] A national petition has been posted claiming that a high school senior son was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia just 9 days after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.

On the 9th, the petitioner stated, "My son received the COVID-19 vaccine according to the government's policy," and "9 days after vaccination, he was diagnosed with thrombocytopenia and increased leukemia."

He continued, "He underwent a re-examination at Kyungpook National University Hospital and was diagnosed with 'acute myeloid leukemia,'" adding, "There were no abnormalities in his blood tests until three months ago."

He appealed, "My son was usually healthy, but because of the government's push to increase vaccination rates, he became a leukemia patient overnight," and "Even when I call the local health center, the responses are not satisfactory. Who should be held responsible for this? It is frustrating."

As of 8:30 a.m. on the 11th, the petition had received about 4,780 signatures.

Cases of vaccine side effects and aftereffects, as well as public interest in them, continue unabated. Regarding COVID-19 vaccine side effects, there are currently about 140 posts on the Blue House National Petition Board.

Another petitioner, who identified as an active nurse, also revealed on the same day through the National Petition Board that "my father was diagnosed with Guillain-Barr? syndrome after receiving the AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine in June and is currently hospitalized in the intensive care unit with limb paralysis and respiratory muscle paralysis." She said, "His only underlying condition was hyperlipidemia," and "Since I had been vaccinated first without major side effects, I encouraged my father to get vaccinated and made the reservation for him myself. I really regret it."

Last month, the wife of a police officer who suddenly died after receiving a COVID vaccine cross-vaccination posted a petition titled "Please reveal the unjust death of the first police officer who died after cross-vaccination with AstraZeneca (AZ) and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines."

She said, "Due to the domestic vaccine supply shortage and the need for the police officer to return to work quickly, there was no choice but to cross-vaccinate with the Pfizer vaccine," and "He was healthier than anyone else without any underlying conditions, so I still cannot believe his death."
