Seoul City Offers YouTube Job Lectures and Current Employee Job Mentoring for Young Job Seekers

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] To support young job seekers struggling with employment due to the spread of COVID-19, the Seoul Metropolitan Government is collaborating with YouTubers to hold employment live talk concerts and job mentoring sessions.

On the 10th, Seoul announced that to provide the latest information in line with changing trends such as the increase in rolling recruitment and the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) and non-face-to-face recruitment processes during the second half recruitment season, it will hold three 'Employment Live Talk Concerts' from August to October.

The first Employment Live Talk Concert will be held on August 12th from 9 PM for 90 minutes. YouTuber Jacob (YouTube channel ‘Insadamdangja’), who has over 230,000 young job seeker subscribers, and Yu Kkotbi, the sales team leader of Lotte Chilsung Beverage who gained attention from appearing on tvN’s You Quiz on the Block, will appear as panelists. They will explain strategies for the second half recruitment season, job information related to sales positions, and problem-solving methods of a sales team leader. The live talk concert will be streamed live on the YouTube channel ‘Insadamdangja’, and anyone interested can participate in real-time to communicate with current job mentors. Job-seeking concerns can also be submitted via a Google form.

Seoul plans to operate ‘Current Employee Job Mentoring’ sessions via Zoom on an ongoing basis, where current employees from highly preferred companies by youth such as large corporations, public enterprises, and foreign companies introduce company-specific recruitment processes and job preparation methods. Participation in the current employee job mentoring is possible by pre-registering on the ‘Seoul Job Portal’. The sessions focus intensively on job preparation methods such as how to write application forms and how to prepare for different types of interviews.

Additionally, over 60 Seoul Job Cafes provide various offline employment support services. They support job seekers in responding to non-face-to-face recruitment trends through AI interview experiences and competency test programs. Various employment support services reflecting youth demand are offered, including one-on-one job counseling, employment lectures, intensive consulting, and study room rentals. Employment programs and study rooms at Job Cafes are available to anyone aged 15 to 39 by reservation through the Seoul Job Portal.

Park Dae-woo, Director of Economic and Job Planning at Seoul City, said, “With the prolonged COVID-19 situation making job preparation increasingly difficult, we have diversified non-face-to-face employment support service programs. We plan to actively support young people’s job-seeking activities so that they can thoroughly prepare from job information of companies they want to join to interview preparation methods.”
