On the 8th, Chanel Korea announced that on the 5th, it confirmed that the database storing personal information of cosmetics membership customers was hacked, resulting in the leakage of some customer information.
The leaked items include names, phone numbers, birthdays, and cosmetics purchase history. If customers agreed to provide optional information at the time of registration, addresses, gender, and email information are also included.
Chanel Korea stated, "Credit card/payment information, customer IDs, and passwords were not leaked."
Chanel Korea explained that immediately after recognizing the personal information leak on the 6th, it identified the cause of the incident and blocked the relevant IP and illegal access routes.
Chanel Korea notified the affected parties of the personal information leak via email or text message, and advised customers who are concerned about potential damage even if they did not receive contact to inquire at the customer center.
Through a notice on its homepage on the same day, Chanel Korea said, "We sincerely apologize for causing concern to our customers due to this matter," and added, "If you receive suspicious calls or emails suspected of personal information misuse or suspect that damage has occurred, please contact us via email or phone."
