[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, ranked first for four consecutive months in the nationwide evaluation of the job performance of 17 city and provincial governors.
Realmeter announced on the 6th that in the July evaluation of metropolitan government heads, Governor Lee Jae-myung maintained a 60% 'positive rating' (good job) ? the only governor to sustain a 60% level ? and has held the top spot for four consecutive months since April.
With this, Governor Lee set a new record by holding the first place for 10 out of the last 12 months this year, except for two months (February and March) when he ranked second.
In this survey, the 2nd and 3rd places were taken by Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeollanam-do (58.5%), and Oh Se-hoon, Mayor of Seoul (55.9%), respectively. Following them were Lee Cheol-woo, Governor of Gyeongsangbuk-do (54.6%), Park Hyung-joon, Mayor of Busan (52.7%), Song Ha-jin, Governor of Jeollabuk-do (49.7%), Lee Si-jong, Governor of Chungcheongbuk-do (49.5%), and Yang Seung-jo, Governor of Chungcheongnam-do (47.2%).
Won Hee-ryong, Jeju Governor and a preliminary candidate in the People Power Party presidential primary, ranked 9th with 44.8%. Other lower-ranked officials included Heo Tae-jeong, Mayor of Daejeon (44.2%), Lee Yong-seop, Mayor of Gwangju (42.0%), Lee Chun-hee, Mayor of Sejong (38.4%), Park Nam-chun, Mayor of Incheon (38.2%), Choi Moon-soon, Governor of Gangwon-do (38.1%), Kwon Young-jin, Mayor of Daegu (35.9%), and Song Cheol-ho, Mayor of Ulsan (32.8%).
In the nationwide evaluation of residents' satisfaction with metropolitan and provincial governments, Seoul City ranked first for three consecutive months with a satisfaction rate of 66.1%. Gyeonggi Province maintained second place with 66.0%, following the previous month.
A representative from Governor Lee Jae-myung's office stated, "Despite being busy with his duties as Governor of Gyeonggi Province and as a preliminary candidate in the Democratic Party presidential primary, Governor Lee's leading position in positive evaluations among city and provincial governors nationwide reflects the public's recognition that he is not neglecting provincial administration."
Realmeter conducted the July nationwide metropolitan government evaluation survey by randomly dialing (RDD) and using an automated response telephone method targeting 17,000 voters aged 18 and over nationwide from June 24 to 29 and from July 25 to 3.
The margin of error for this survey is ±0.8 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
