[Golf Topic] 'Number 2 Johnson "Will Compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics"'

[Asia Economy Reporter Noo Rae] ○…World No. 2 Dustin Johnson (USA, photo) hinted at the possibility of participating in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

On the 5th (Korean time), at the official press conference of the World Golf Championships (WGC) FedEx St. Jude Invitational (total prize money $10.5 million) held at Southwind Golf Club in Memphis, Tennessee (par 70, 7,233 yards), when asked "Will you participate in the Paris Olympics?" he said, "I probably will." He added, "I watched the men's Olympic golf event last week with great interest," and emphasized, "I like representing the United States in international competitions."

Johnson qualified for both the 2018 Rio Olympics and this year's Tokyo Olympics. However, he withdrew from Rio citing concerns over the Zika virus, and this time declined to participate, stating he would focus on the PGA Tour Playoffs (PO). He said, "I do not regret the decision not to participate in the Tokyo Olympics," and left a lingering remark, "I will not say that I will not participate in the next Olympics." Johnson will be 40 years old in 2024, the year the Paris Olympics will be held.
