[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] Kang Min-jin, leader of the Youth Justice Party, criticized Democratic Party leader Song Young-gil's remark on a radio broadcast calling the People Power Party "an infertile party," saying, "Why should the bodies of women struggling with pregnancy be used as a metaphor for criticism? It is insensitive and sexist language."

On the 5th, Kang posted on her social media (SNS), "I understand the intention behind the remark," but pointed out, "The metaphor used to criticize the opposing party is an expression that hurts the people who are actually suffering."

Earlier that day (the 5th), Song appeared on YTN Radio's 'Hwang Bo-seon's Start of a New Morning' and, regarding the entry of former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl and former Board of Audit and Inspection Chairman Choi Jae-hyung into the People Power Party, said, "They are taking people nurtured by the Moon Jae-in administration and using them as mercenaries," adding, "It is an admission that the People Power Party is an infertile party."

In response, Kang said, "Isn't it a minimum human rights sensitivity that disabilities or illnesses should not be used as negative metaphors?" and added, "Expressions referring to infertility are also part of this problem."

Kang explained, "Infertility and difficulty conceiving are not dishonorable," and noted, "Many politicians have previously caused controversy by using inappropriate metaphors and expressions."

She emphasized, "I do not think it is right for politicians representing citizens to use derogatory expressions about certain citizens in official settings without any objections," and added, "I hope language that does not demean anyone becomes the basic language of Korean politics."
