"Drinking Party in Meeting Room?" Kakao Investigates Alleged Violation of Quarantine Rules

[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Kakao stated that it plans to "proceed with the Ethics Committee process" regarding allegations of violating quarantine rules raised within the company.

According to Kakao on the 5th, a report was received claiming that about 10 executives and employees held a drinking gathering late at night in an in-house meeting room. According to a Kakao employee's claim, it is estimated that about 10 executives and employees had a drinking party for about two hours from 8 PM to 10 PM the previous evening.

Kakao plans to go through the Ethics Committee process, including fact verification. If the report is confirmed to be true, disciplinary procedures are expected to follow.

Earlier, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters had recommended refraining from group events and dinners at workplaces.

As the spread of COVID-19 worsens, Kakao has implemented company-wide remote work. However, employees still come to the office when necessary for meetings and other essential tasks.
