[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Korea Railroad announced on the 5th that it will publicly recruit 600 new employees in the second half of this year.
The number of recruits includes 260 for general recruitment, 180 for high school graduate selection, 140 for veterans' recommendation, and 20 for persons with disabilities.
By job category, combining the general recruitment and veterans/disability recruitment numbers, new employees will be selected as follows: 144 for office sales, 35 for driving, 190 for rolling stock, 120 for civil engineering, 12 for architecture, and 99 for electrical communication.
Application submissions will be accepted through the Korea Railroad website from 2 PM on the 17th to 2 PM on the 19th of this month.
After the application deadline, Korea Railroad plans to select the final successful candidates through document verification, written exams, and interviews.
The recruitment process will be conducted on the principle of 'blind recruitment,' which does not consider academic background, age, or language test scores.
Additionally, general recruitment and high school graduate selection will provide conditions for regional talents to apply by dividing into six regional zones nationwide (five zones for the rolling stock field).

Meanwhile, according to the 'Special Act on the Creation and Development of Innovation Cities,' 21% of the nationwide and Chungcheong region recruits will be selected from universities or high schools located in Daejeon, Sejong, and Chungcheong regions, where the Korea Railroad headquarters is located.
Korea Railroad Acting President Jeong Wang-guk said, “Considering the serious COVID-19 situation, we will thoroughly comply with quarantine rules to ensure a safe and fair recruitment process.”
