Jeju Volunteer Firefighters Awarded Commendation for Firefighting Service

They are members of the Dongmun Market specialized volunteer fire brigade, and they received commendations for distinguished firefighting activities in recognition of their great efforts in preventing the spread of the fire by actively responding to the initial fire using the emergency fire extinguishing equipment installed in the market and securing the fire brigade’s access route during the recent restaurant fire in Dongmun Market.

Chief Ko Jae-woo said, “The responsible response of the Dongmun Market specialized volunteer fire brigade prevented major damage,” and added, “I hope they will continue to devote themselves to safety support activities in traditional markets.”

Meanwhile, the Dongmun Market specialized volunteer fire brigade was launched in 2019 and has been playing a key role as safety guardians of traditional markets through disaster response, preventive patrols, and safety support activities.
