Lee Jin, Minsaengdang Professional Committee Chair, Announces Candidacy for Party Leader

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Lee Jin, the head of the Minsaeng Party's Professional Committee, declared his candidacy for party leader on the 5th.

On the same day, candidate Lee Jin held the "Start of Change" election camp in Gwangju in the morning, announcing his candidacy and officially beginning election preparations.

Candidate Lee Jin stated, "Through the support of the people and party members, I will create a new and strong Minsaeng Party," and added, "To achieve this, I will initiate innovative changes."

He continued, "Above all, we will pursue a practical centrist path unique to the Minsaeng Party that can replace the political incompetence shown by the Democratic Party and the People Power Party during the COVID-19 crisis," emphasizing, "We will establish a solid support base not only for the presidential election but also for local elections."

The Minsaeng Party's leadership election will begin with candidate registration over two days starting on the 9th, followed by policy presentations and three candidate debates.

Party member voting will be conducted over four days from the 24th via K-Voting and ARS, and the party leader and supreme council members will be elected at the party convention on the 28th.

Meanwhile, candidate Lee Jin joined the Korea Resources Recycling Corporation under the Ministry of Environment through open recruitment, formed a labor union, unified public institution unions nationwide, and led the National Public Service Federation as its first secretary-general.

After being recruited into politics as a labor expert following the election of the late President Kim Dae-jung, he served as a policy research committee member in the National Assembly and handled major tasks in the central party. His strengths are noted as a gentle yet firm driving force with excellent conflict resolution skills.
