Suncheon City Recruiting Trainees for 'Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Garden Horticulture Certification' Training


[Suncheon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 4th that it is recruiting students for the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Level 2 Garden Horticulture Theory (Plant Growth, Propagation, Cultivation) qualification course until the 17th.


This course is the third following those in 2018 and 2019. Students who pass the qualification exam for this course can obtain an RHS educational certificate recognized internationally in the horticultural industry and gain a broad understanding of garden horticulture and botany.


The course will run for a total of 10 months from the first class starting on the 3rd of next month until June of next year. The tuition fee is 250,000 KRW, and 25 students will be recruited.


Anyone aged 19 or older can apply. Those wishing to enroll should refer to the announcement on the city hall website and submit the required documents via email by the 17th.


Selection of students will be conducted through a first round of document screening and a second round of interviews. Final successful candidates can be confirmed on the city hall website on the 24th.


A city official stated, “The globally prestigious RHS certification education will enhance the status of Suncheon, the host city of the 2023 International Garden Expo, and provide high-quality education that meets the domestic demand for professional garden personnel training.”

Meanwhile, Suncheonman National Garden was designated as an RHS education center in September 2018, the first outside the Commonwealth, and has produced a total of nine successful candidates through Qualification 1 (Plant Growth) and Qualification 2 (Garden Planning) courses.
