Promotion of Mutual Cooperation Projects such as Traditional Culture Preservation and Cultural Exchange
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong Museum and Danseong Hyanggyo have signed an exchange agreement to operate cooperative programs for the preservation of traditional culture and cultural exchange.
According to both institutions on the 4th, through the agreement, they will promote projects such as supporting educational programs to enhance Sancheong youth's understanding of Confucian culture, operating programs linked to traditional culture, fostering friendship, and mutual cooperation for activities benefiting local residents.
This April, the museum was selected for the '2021 Museum and Art Gallery Week - The Future of Museums, Recovery and Reimagining' program contest conducted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the National Museum Cultural Foundation.
Following the selection, the museum created a non-face-to-face educational program reflecting regional characteristics titled 'A Day in the Life of a Sancheong Seonbi Experienced Online.' In particular, within this program, the 'Sancheong Seonbi Exercise' was produced using Danseong Hyanggyo's Myeongnyundang as the background and is being utilized for education.
Danseong Hyanggyo was established during the reign of King Injong of Goryeo and was relocated to its current location in 1752. Until the Gabo Reform, it served as a representative educational institution of the region along with Sancheong Hyanggyo.
Especially, Myeongnyundang within Danseong Hyanggyo (Treasure No. 2093) was recognized for its cultural heritage value as a mid-Joseon Dynasty hyanggyo building and was designated as a treasure in December last year.
Park Woo-myung, director of Sancheong Museum, said, “With the signing of this exchange agreement, we hope to activate research on the region's history and traditional culture, as well as to implement new education that fits the flow of the times.”
