[Wando＝Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyungpil] Jeonnam Wando-gun announced on the 4th that it will strengthen quarantine measures to ensure the safety of residents and tourists from COVID-19 as the number of tourists visiting Shinji Myeongsashilli Beach and other locations increases during the summer vacation season.

At Shinji Myeongsashilli Beach, which opened on the 23rd of last month, nine main entrance points operate fever check booths to reduce crowd density during entry and exit. Additionally, a prior reservation system has been introduced, 070 safety number registration is required, and administrative orders have been implemented to mandate mask-wearing and prohibit food and alcohol consumption within the beach area.

Moreover, as in the previous year, drones are being deployed this year to check the body temperature of beach users and to monitor violations of social distancing rules such as outdoor drinking.

Furthermore, drones are used to assess crowd density at the beach, and in areas with high density, announcements are made to encourage dispersal.

Meanwhile, due to concerns that workers and residents of lodging and hygiene establishments frequently visited by tourists around Shinji Myeongsashilli Beach are exposed to the risk of COVID-19 infection through contact with outsiders, proactive measures are being taken to have them perform self-tests using diagnostic kits or undergo PCR testing.

A county official stated, “COVID-19 self-diagnosis is intended to prevent additional infections in case of confirmed cases, so we ask residents to actively cooperate.”

County Governor Shin Woo-cheol said, “Recently, many COVID-19 cases have occurred in our county, and since it is vacation season, quarantine must be more thorough than ever,” adding, “The county will do its utmost to protect the safety of residents by establishing a more strengthened quarantine system.”
