[Jangseong=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] The agricultural products market "Haengbok Jangteo" located at Baekyangsa Rest Area in Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, is gaining great popularity after reopening.
According to the county on the 4th, the Baekyangsa Rest Area Haengbok Jangteo is a market that opened in 1997 and is installed along both directions of the highway, making it a "small but precious market" where travelers can encounter agricultural products on their way.
In May, the county newly selected ㈜Jangseong Distribution Business Group as the consigned operator for the upward direction and Jangseong En Apple Co., Ltd. for the downward direction through a public contest.
㈜Jangseong Distribution Business Group, in charge of the upward Haengbok Jangteo, improved internal facilities and attempted changes by stocking various local agricultural products produced in season, various processed foods, cypress processed products, and flowers.
It contributes to securing sales channels for small and medium-sized farms and is popular because customers can purchase agricultural products harvested on the same day immediately.
Jangseong En Apple Co., Ltd., the operator of the downward direction, focuses on promoting local agricultural products based on many years of store operation experience, and it is expected to achieve high sales during the apple harvest season, the county’s representative specialty, this fall.
The county operates the nation’s first regional food plan united by local government, government, NongHyup, and the military, which plans the entire process of production, distribution, and consumption of food within the region, ensuring safe and healthy food on consumers’ tables and stable income for farmers as a comprehensive food strategy.
Selected last year as a local government supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs for the Food Plan Package Project, the county is currently promoting a food plan construction project worth 11.6 billion KRW across 11 projects.
County Governor Yoo Doo-seok said, “Sales at local direct food markets, including Haengbok Jangteo, continue to rise steadily,” and added, “We will successfully complete the ‘Jangseong-type Food Plan’ so that consumers and farmers can be happy together.”
