[Asia Economy Kim Hyun-jun, Golf Specialist Reporter] ○…The CJ Cup will be held in the United States for the second consecutive year…
The PGA Tour announced on the 4th (Korean time) that "The CJ Cup will open on October 14 at The Summit Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA." Established in 2017 as the only PGA Tour event in Korea, it was held for three years at Nine Bridges in Jeju Island before moving to the United States last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Power hitter Jason Kokrak (USA) secured a two-stroke victory (20-under 268) at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas.
For the 2022 season, the tournament was originally planned to be held at Hasley Nine Bridges in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province, but due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, it was decided once again to hold the event in the United States. The Summit is a newly established course designed by Tom Fazio and opened in 2017. CJ Group stated, "It was an unavoidable choice for the safety of players and fans," adding, "We will spare no effort to support airfare and accommodation to allow many domestic players to experience the big leagues."
