[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] Lee Nak-yeon, a presidential candidate from the Democratic Party of Korea, rated the Moon Jae-in administration's governance at "about 70 points."

On the 3rd, Lee appeared on TV Chosun News and responded to the host's question, "How many points would you give the current administration out of 100?" by saying, "It's really difficult. It has gone down a lot and then gone back up," giving this evaluation.

He stated, "What was done well was done well, and what was regrettable is regrettable," adding, "What should be inherited from the Moon Jae-in administration are the peace and inclusive policies, and what needs to be changed is how to resolve the public's dissatisfaction and sense of loss regarding the real estate issue."

Regarding Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung's basic income policy, he criticized, "First of all, basic income distributing evenly is not universal welfare."

He then quoted former Deputy Prime Minister for Economy Kim Dong-yeon's criticism, saying, "Kim Dong-yeon appropriately criticized it, stating that it is money unnecessary for the rich, insufficient for the poor, but too much for the country as a whole."

In response to the comment that "Lee Nak-yeon is not well remembered for his policies," he explained, "I am advocating for new welfare and the middle-class economy, and it is difficult to explain in a single phrase," adding, "Because it is a comprehensive policy, not a slogan, it cannot be conveyed in just a few words."

Earlier this year, Lee, who had raised the issue of pardoning former Presidents Lee Myung-bak and Park Geun-hye, reflected, "That was just a principle," saying, "I hoped that the hearts of the people would come closer together for Korea to move toward the future, and I only said I would propose it at an appropriate time, but I deeply reflected and studied on the point that even such remarks failed to delicately consider the will of the people."
