On the 3rd (local time), when asked by reporters whether Governor Cuomo should resign, President Biden replied, "Yes."

When asked if Cuomo should be impeached if he does not resign, President Biden said, "The state legislature can decide on impeachment."

As President Biden mentioned the possibility of resignation and impeachment, pressure for Governor Cuomo to step down is likely to intensify.

In March, President Biden had expressed the opinion that Governor Cuomo should resign if the sexual harassment allegations were true.

President Biden's remarks on this day are interpreted as effectively severing ties with Governor Cuomo, who supported him during last year's presidential election.

On the same day, New York State Attorney General Letitia James released a report containing the investigation results that Governor Cuomo sexually harassed 11 women.

After the report was released, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, both Democrats from New York, issued a joint statement urging Governor Cuomo to resign.

Federal House Representatives Gregory Meeks, Hakeem Jeffries, and Tom Suozzi also strongly demanded Cuomo's resignation in a joint statement.

On the other hand, Governor Cuomo strongly opposed the investigation, claiming it has political motives, is biased, and contains inaccuracies.
