Vice Minister Choi is scheduled to visit Tehran from the 4th to the 5th, when the inauguration ceremony will be held.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expects Vice Minister Choi's visit to serve as an opportunity to convey the intention to strengthen bilateral relations following the launch of the Raisi administration.

During his visit, Vice Minister Choi is expected to hold talks with Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister, to discuss bilateral relations and regional issues.

Vice Minister Choi previously visited Iran in January to negotiate the release of a Korean vessel seized by Iran and the issue of frozen funds, during which he met with Deputy Minister Araghchi.

At that time, the severely deteriorated bilateral relations were restored as the Korean government showed a strong willingness to resolve the frozen funds issue and Iran released the vessel; however, since Iran still urges a complete resolution of the issue, it is expected to be discussed again in this meeting.
