Dispatched for Cigarette Fire, Found Illegal Immigrant Drug Use Hideout

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] The Yangsan Police Station in Gyeongnam announced on the 3rd that they have arrested six people, including a Thai national A (32), on charges of using methamphetamine (violation of the Narcotics Control Act).

They are accused of using methamphetamine at a villa in Yangsan between 6 p.m. on the 22nd of last month and 10 a.m. on the 24th.

Their crime was uncovered when a small fire broke out at A's residence, the site of the methamphetamine use, at around 11:15 a.m. on the 24th.

Upon receiving a report from a resident, the police, along with the fire department, arrived at the scene and asked A for identification to investigate the cause of the fire, but he fled.

After a chase, the police caught A and found a bag containing methamphetamine in his belongings, as well as drug paraphernalia in the house.

It was confirmed that the group, who were acquaintances, visited A's house one after another to use methamphetamine.

Investigation revealed that among the six members of the group, including A, five were illegal immigrants.

The cause of the fire was determined to be due to a cigarette not being properly extinguished, and it was found to be unrelated to the methamphetamine use.

The police are tracking down the dealer who supplied methamphetamine to them.
