"Real-Time Air Quality Management for Chemical Plants" LG Uplus Establishes Air Quality Diagnostic Solution

[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] LG Uplus announced on the 3rd that it has established an air environment diagnosis solution capable of real-time management of air pollutant emissions at chemical sites such as LG Chem.

LG Uplus's air environment diagnosis solution, which combines 5G and LTE wireless networks, facilitates the installation of various measuring instruments and sensors, and enables real-time monitoring of the concentration and diffusion status of air pollutants emitted from business sites.

The U+ Smart Factory air environment diagnosis solution immediately issues an alarm when substances that stimulate human olfaction, such as hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, and volatile organic compounds, occur inside or outside the site. Then, through the U+ Smart Factory air TMS (remote monitoring system), data on pollutants emitted from chimneys, such as dust, sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides, hydrogen chloride, hydrogen fluoride, and carbon monoxide, are transmitted in real time to the Environmental Corporation.

The Ministry of Environment manages harmful air substances to improve air quality, and if emission standards are exceeded, local governments can issue corrective measures to business sites. In particular, with the enforcement of the Special Act on Air Quality Improvement in Air Management Zones (Air Management Zone Act) last year, which mandates total pollutant load management at business sites, it is expected that sites sensitive to emission management will show interest in this solution.
