[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] A director of an academy in Gwangju, who is under police investigation for sexually harassing a student at his academy, has been found to have allegedly harassed another student as well.
On the 2nd, the Gwangju Nambu Police Station announced that they have requested a pre-arrest warrant for Mr. A, the director of an academy in Gwangju, on charges of sexually harassing a female high school student (violation of the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles Against Sexual Abuse).
According to the police, Mr. A is accused of touching a part of the body of Ms. B (18), who came to the academy to check her exam results, at around 5:30 p.m. on the 10th of last month in the director’s office of an English academy located in Jinwol-dong, Nam-gu.
During the investigation, the police expanded their inquiry considering the possibility of additional victims and secured testimony from another victim among some students, excluding Ms. B, who reported being sexually harassed.
Since additional victims have been confirmed, the police view Mr. A’s crimes as malicious and habitual, and, considering the risk of flight, have applied for an arrest warrant.
The pre-arrest detention hearing for Mr. A is scheduled to be held at the Gwangju District Court on the 3rd.
