Gunwi-gun Breaks Ground on Agricultural Products Joint Processing Center... Trial Operation Scheduled for Second Half of Next Year

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Dongguk Lee] Gunwi County held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Agricultural Products Joint Processing Center at the Agricultural Technology Center on the 2nd.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by about 30 people, including Kim Young-man, Gunwi County Governor, Shim Chil, Chairman of the Gunwi County Council, Park Chang-seok, Provincial Assembly member, and farmers involved in agricultural product processing.

Gunwi County plans to complete the 455㎡ Agricultural Products Joint Processing Center within this year with a total project cost of 1.715 billion KRW, and then install processing equipment next year to begin trial operations in the second half of 2022.

Regarding this project, Gunwi County was selected for a national subsidy project by the Rural Development Administration last year and secured 500 million KRW in national funds. Subsequently, through a survey of local processing farmers' demands and process design services, plans have been made to install major processing facility equipment.

Kim Young-man, Gunwi County Governor, emphasized, "The establishment of this Agricultural Products Processing Center will not only satisfy the local farmers' demand for agricultural product processing but also pioneer sales channels for processed agricultural products, opening new paths for startups and restructuring the industrial framework of county agriculture."
