[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Geoje City in Gyeongnam announced on the 2nd that Mayor Byeon Gwang-yong personally conducted on-site inspections of beaches as the peak summer vacation season began.

This inspection was carried out to create a safe summer resort by visiting major beaches, especially on weekends when visitors are particularly crowded, to strictly check compliance with quarantine rules.

Mayor Byeon visited Wahyeon Beach, Gujora Beach, and Hakdong Heukjinju Mongdol Beach in sequence, urging officials to do their best in quarantine activities to prevent confirmed cases originating from the beaches, as the number of visitors is increasing despite the elevation to social distancing level 3.

He also listened to complaints from residents and difficulties faced by officials due to marine debris inflow and jellyfish appearances, requesting them to do their utmost to operate the beaches in a pleasant and safe manner.

Finally, at Heukjinju Mongdol Beach, he met with Kim Hye-jung, Director of the Masan Regional Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office, and staff conducting a COVID-19 quarantine compliance campaign, expressing gratitude for their active support of quarantine activities during these difficult times in Geoje and joined the campaign.

Meanwhile, the city has installed 25 fever screening stations at all 16 beaches to prevent and contain the spread of COVID-19, employing 69 screening staff and 48 personnel for quarantine rule guidance and enforcement, operating them continuously.
