[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] The Yongsan Police Station in Seoul has sent teacher A to detention on the 2nd on charges of illegally filming students and staff in high school dormitories and restrooms (violation of the Youth Protection Act, etc.).

According to the police, A is accused of installing cameras in the girls' dormitories and female staff restrooms at two schools where he worked, producing 669 illegal recordings. A also stored the illegal footage files on his work PC, and it is known that there are as many as 116 victims.

However, the police believe that A did not distribute the illegal recordings he produced.

The school where A was employed discovered a camera in the restroom in April this year and reported it to the police. Since then, the police have identified A as a suspect and have been investigating. A was detained on the 28th of last month.

The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education stated at the time of A's detention, "We will take the highest level of disciplinary action (permanent expulsion) to ensure he never returns to the classroom."
