Gwangjin-gu Operates Cheongchun Tteurak Screening Clinic at Konkuk University Station

Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) is operating a Seoul city mobile screening clinic at Cheongchun Tteurak, located at Exit 2 of Konkuk University Station.

The Cheongchun Tteurak screening clinic was established due to the increasing number of tests amid the ongoing spread of COVID-19 and the closure of the Gwangjin Square screening clinic.

In particular, the area around Konkuk University Station, which has many food service workers and a large influx of young people, was selected.

The operation period is from August 2 to 14, excluding Sundays. Operating hours are from 5 PM to 9 PM, considering the schedules of workers and business owners.

Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation without a decline and the increasing demand for testing from residents, we have installed and are operating a mobile screening clinic. We hope it will help prevent cluster infections in multi-use facilities and detect confirmed cases early.”

Dongdaemun-gu Sprays Water on Roads to Relieve Residents from the Heat

Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) has been spraying water on roads during heatwave warnings to help residents cope with the recent continuous scorching heat.

The district deployed six water-cleaning trucks directly operated by the district office and added two privately operated water-cleaning trucks funded by emergency support from Seoul City, totaling eight trucks. They conducted extensive water spraying on major arterial roads and general roads such as Cheonho-daero, Gosan-ja-ro, and Wangsanno.

The water spraying is concentrated between 2 PM and 4 PM, the time of highest daytime temperatures, to provide relief to residents exhausted by the heat.

According to a survey by the Seoul Institute of Health and Environment, spraying water on roads during peak daytime temperatures lowers the road surface temperature by 6.4°C and the surrounding air temperature (sidewalk) by 1.5°C.

Yoo Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “This water spraying operation will reduce discomfort caused by the heat, decrease dust generation and temperature rise, provide a refreshing feeling to residents exhausted by the heat, and contribute to mitigating the urban heat island effect. We ask for understanding regarding any inconvenience to traffic flow caused by the water spraying.”
