[Muju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Muju County announced on the 2nd that it will hold the 3rd Kim Hwan-tae Youth Literature Award Contest to encourage the dreams of young people and boost their confidence.
The contest, open to middle and high school students and youth nationwide, invites submissions of poems, novels, essays, etc., containing overall impressions of the author or the work after reading Kim Hwan-tae's literary works, from August 10 to October 8.
One copy of the submission, including the cover, can be submitted in person, by mail, or by email. For mail submissions, the postmark dated October 8 is valid.
The winning entries will be announced on October 25 through the Muju County Office website.
The grand prize (1 winner) will receive a prize of 1,000,000 KRW; the gold prize (2 winners) will receive 500,000 KRW each; the silver prize (3 winners) will receive 300,000 KRW each; the bronze prize (5 winners) will receive 100,000 KRW each; and the honorable mention (10 winners) will receive 50,000 KRW each.
Meanwhile, Nulin Kim Hwan-tae (1909?1944) was a pioneer of Korean critical literature from Muju.
Accordingly, Muju County established and operates the ‘Kim Hwan-tae Literature Museum’ in the Dangsan-ri area of Muju-eup to honor his literature and enhance the prestige of Muju culture.
