'Summer Festival' Food Canceled Due to COVID-19... 40% Discount Sale

Post Office Shopping, Up to 3,000 Items Available from 1st to 10th

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-su] Korea Post Shopping announced on the 2nd that it will offer up to 40% discounts on summer food products to consumers enjoying homecations due to the impact of COVID-19 during the peak summer vacation season.

The Korea Post Headquarters under the Ministry of Science and ICT, which operates Korea Post Shopping, announced on the 2nd that from the 1st to the 10th, it will hold a special event called ‘Together for Good Consumption, Korea Post Shopping Summer Sale,’ offering up to 40% discounts on over 3,000 summer food items. This initiative also aims to support farmers and fishermen who are struggling to secure sales channels due to cancellations of local festivals caused by COVID-19. Korea Post Shopping explained that the event was prepared especially to support the cool summer experience of the ‘homecation (home + vacation)’ crowd as the spread of COVID-19 worsens.

The online special event features products from festival-canceled regions, local specialty foods, and seasonal summer fruits to support small business owners and farmers and fishermen. About 3,000 items of popular summer consumer foods, including samgyeopsal (pork belly), are sold at discounts of up to 40%. Among popular products, peaches (2kg) are sold at a 37% discount for 9,900 won, Korean pork neck (500g) at a 22% discount for 11,250 won, and freshwater eel (600g) at a 38% discount for 26,720 won.

Various benefits have also been prepared to enable customers to shop smartly. Discount coupons are provided to all customers, and limited quantity ‘half-price specials’ at 10 a.m. on weekdays (Monday to Thursday) as well as events like Shopping 25 o’clock are held.
