[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Midam] On the 1st, Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province and a presidential primary candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl, urging him to "stop the drinking party." In response, Lee Jun-seok, leader of the People Power Party, fired back, saying, "Stop your double standards."

In a post on his Facebook page that afternoon, Lee said, "Are you telling him to live as a drunkard? Did candidate Yoon commit drunk driving?" This appears to be aimed at Lee Jae-myung, who was fined in 2004 for drunk driving.

Lee further pointed out, "The real problem is that when asked to explain to the person who actually committed drunk driving, he gave a vague explanation, saying it was 'an incident that occurred while providing pro bono defense for reporter Kwon, who was sued for reporting on Mayor Lee Dae-yeop's Nonghyup illegal loan case in 2004, and collecting testimony after meeting the mayor's aide.'"

Lee also criticized Lee Jae-myung for posting a photo during the 2017 presidential election process showing him drinking with ruling party politicians, saying, "Why does the Democratic Party openly gather candidates to drink and then criticize others?" The photo attached by Lee shows Lee Jae-myung, President Moon Jae-in, and former Chungnam Governor Ahn Hee-jung raising beer glasses together.

Earlier, Park Jin-young, spokesperson for Lee Jae-myung’s campaign, raised his voice on Facebook, urging former Prosecutor General Yoon to "stop the drinking party that goes against the COVID-19 crisis."

Spokesperson Park criticized, "Following the chicken and beer with Lee Jun-seok and the daytime drinking in Busan, this time you met with the group of Judas Iscariot and drank soju," questioning, "Is the activity of a presidential candidate just hopping from one drinking party to another?"

Former Prosecutor General Yoon had a 'chimaek meeting' with Lee Jun-seok on the 25th of last month, then on the 27th met with People Power Party lawmakers from the Busan region to share pork soup and boiled pork while drinking soju. On the 30th, he had a 'soju meeting' with former lawmaker Geum Tae-seop, who left the Democratic Party. Spokesperson Park’s comparison of the two to Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Jesus, is interpreted in this context.

Regarding Yoon’s actions, Spokesperson Park questioned, "Is this really appropriate behavior for COVID-19 prevention? Does it align with the sentiments of the working people during the heatwave?" He added, "He said it was strange that he couldn’t distinguish between martyr Lee Han-yeol and the Bu-Ma uprising, but maybe he was still drunk. It overlaps with former President Park Geun-hye, who always seemed like a princess intoxicated by sleep. Just live as a drunkard."

He also addressed the People Power Party, saying, "You need to get your act together. No matter how much the enemy of my enemy is my friend, shouldn’t you find a legitimate leader rather than a treacherous betrayer? Isn’t it pathetic regardless of whether you are progressive or conservative?" Finally, he criticized, "What a spectacle. A soju party of icons of betrayal! It will be the Last Supper."
