[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] On August 1st, the first holiday of the month, 16 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi Province.

The Goyang City health authorities stated, "Among them, 5 are residents from other regions, 5 had contact with confirmed cases from other regions, 3 were infected within families, and the infection routes of the remaining 3 are currently under investigation."

Additionally, on the same day, one confirmed case each was reported among Goyang citizens at the Mapo-gu Public Health Center and Gimpo Woori Hospital screening clinics, and on the evening of July 31st, one case each at the screening clinics of Gwanak-gu and Eunpyeong-gu Public Health Centers, totaling 4 cases whose infection routes are under investigation.

As of 4 p.m. that day, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Goyang-si reached 4,517, with 4,380 confirmed cases among Goyang citizens (4,269 domestic infections and 111 overseas infections).
