Chairman Jeong Returns via Gimpo Airport "Car Market Boom to Continue for a While"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Chung Eui-sun, Chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, returned to Korea on the 1st after reviewing investment plans in the United States and cheering for the national archery team at the Tokyo Olympics.
At Gimpo International Airport in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, Chairman Chung told reporters about the national archery team's performance, "The athletes did very well, and the coaches also did a great job, so I believe it was an achievement made together by all archers."
He also said, "I think the high-precision shooting machine, which allows selecting good arrows without deviation, was useful," adding, "(The reward plan) will be announced together with other sports organizations after the Olympics are completely over."
Regarding the outlook for the global mobility market, Chairman Chung said, "Car sales are doing well, and in the case of the United States, I think it has peaked," and added, "Thanks to many people getting vaccinated and returning to daily life, I expect the automobile market to continue to prosper for the time being."
On the recent three consecutive years of peaceful wage and collective agreement settlements between Hyundai Motor Company and labor unions, Chairman Chung said, "I hope this practice continues in the future, with more dialogue, and that everything can be discussed and reasonably decided in a direction that benefits the company," and stated, "We also plan to reflect the voices of the MZ generation (born in the 1980s to 2000s) a lot and decide on performance bonuses in a constructive way."
