Gwangju City Local Government Employee Recruitment Exam Records an Average Ratio of 12.6 to 1

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced the final successful candidates for the 2021 1st Local Government Employee Recruitment Examination through its official website.

According to Gwangju City on the 1st, this exam had 9,265 applicants competing for 738 positions, recording an average competition rate of 12.6 to 1.

Among them, 7,019 people (attendance rate 75.8%) took the written exam held on June 5, and after reflecting document screening, interviews, and gender-equal recruitment, a total of 780 candidates were finally selected.

This is the second-largest recruitment scale following 847 in 2019.

Gwangju City expanded the selection targets by actively reflecting various policy demands such as building an AI industry ecosystem, promoting the Gwangju-type 3 major New Deal policies, establishing safety and local autonomy systems to prepare for the post-COVID-19 era and create youth jobs, as well as increasing new personnel demand centered on fieldwork in five autonomous districts to enhance welfare for children, youth, the disabled, and women.

In particular, to ensure early deployment of COVID-19 response personnel and smooth progress of city administration issues, the recruitment process was shortened by more than one month compared to the original plan.

By job category, the numbers are ▲Administration 333 ▲Social Welfare 116 ▲Facilities and Disaster Safety 79 ▲Nursing, Health, Medical Technology 70 ▲Engineering 44 ▲Environment and Greenery 35 ▲Other categories 103.

By gender, 312 males and 468 females were selected, with females accounting for 60.0% of the total. The female pass rate has steadily increased from 51.5% in 2016.

Among them, the female pass rate in the administration category was 60.1%, and in social welfare, nursing, and health categories, it reached 78.5%.

By age group, those under their 20s were the largest at 575 (73.7%), followed by 170 in their 30s (21.8%), and 35 aged 40 and above (4.5%), showing a considerable number of successful candidates even among older age groups.

The oldest successful candidate was 55 years old (General Administration), and the youngest was 19 years old (General Administration).

Final successful candidates can view their scores until the end of the year, available through the Internet Application Center.

Registration documents for appointment candidates must be submitted from the 4th to the 6th at the new appointment candidate registration desk in the General Civil Service Office on the 1st floor of City Hall.

Gwangju City plans to conduct new appointment candidate training online for two weeks from September 9 to September 3 in three sessions, followed by related procedures such as checking for disqualifications before placement.

Kim Jonghwa, the city's Personnel Policy Officer, said, “We increased the recruitment scale and advanced the recruitment schedule to realize a safe and happy Gwangju for citizens. We will place talents in the right positions to provide citizen-centered administrative services that meet citizens' expectations.”
