[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] LG Energy Solution is embarking on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management to establish a global green battery ecosystem and create sustainable social value.
On the 1st, LG Energy Solution announced its ESG vision titled 'We CHARGE toward a better future' along with specific management strategies to achieve it. ‘CHARGE’ represents the eight key ESG focus areas and four Enablers (foundations to promote the ESG focus areas) (see related image).
Along with this, LG Energy Solution will pursue seven core tasks to realize ▲carbon neutrality by 2050 ▲transition to ‘RE 100’ at all global business sites by 2030 ▲establishment of a ‘resource circulation loop’ by 2025, considering timeliness and importance.
The seven specific core tasks are ▲setting and managing mid- to long-term greenhouse gas reduction targets ▲achieving renewable energy transition (RE100) ▲building a global recycling business model ▲managing diversity from a global perspective ▲strengthening the product eco-friendliness management system ▲improving supply chain ESG risk management system ▲reducing environmental and safety accident risks at business sites.
Kim Jong-hyun, President of LG Energy Solution, said, "ESG management is a new milestone to create sustainable social value such as coexistence and mutual growth, and establishing a virtuous cycle structure in the battery industry ecosystem. We will make this year the inaugural year of ESG at LG Energy Solution and accelerate ESG management that innovatively improves human life.”
