Looking for Busan's 'Golmokgil' ... Busan Architecture Festival Citizen Video Contest

A Total of 10 Teams Selected, Award-Winning Works to be Exhibited at Busan Architecture Festival

Submit Video Works Under 3 Minutes by September 30

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Busan City has set out to find the "golmokgil" (alleyways).

Busan City and the Busan Architecture Festival Organizing Committee are holding the "Finding Alleyways with Busan Video Contest" to encourage citizen participation in creating exhibition content for the "2021 Busan Architecture Festival."

The video contest is designed not just to find beautiful or old places, but to preserve the lives of Busan people and the city's time, and to collectively consider how to pass on those memories and places to the future.

There are no eligibility restrictions; interested citizens can participate individually or in teams of up to four people.

From August 2 to September 30, participants can submit video files under 3 minutes in length, produced according to the theme, along with the application form via email.

After judging the submissions in October, a total of 10 teams will be selected and awarded: 1 Grand Prize team (prize money 2 million KRW), 1 Excellence Award team (prize money 1 million KRW), 3 Merit Award teams (prize money 500,000 KRW each), and 5 Encouragement Award teams (prize money 300,000 KRW each). The winning works will be exhibited during this year's Busan Architecture Festival.

Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan, said, "Alleyways are important spaces that connect the city, and they are places where stories known only to the people living there accumulate layer by layer," adding, "I hope the value of Busan's alleyways will be rediscovered and that more people can empathize with them."

The "2021 Busan Architecture Festival," themed on 100 years of urban architecture in Busan, is scheduled to be held in November at various locations throughout Busan, including Shinsegae Department Store in Centum City.
