[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yoo Seong-hoon) is accepting nominations for candidates for the '26th Geumcheon Citizen Award' until September 3rd. The award recognizes residents and organizations who have devoted themselves to the district administration and the development of the local community.
The 'Geumcheon Citizen Award' is presented to residents and organizations who have shown exceptional passion and dedication to the development of the local community in five categories: ▲Community Service ▲Good Customs and Morals ▲Education ▲Culture ▲Sports.
Nominees must have contributed to community harmony and development in each category and, as of August 2, 2021, must have continuously resided or been based in Geumcheon-gu for at least three years. Eligible nominees include residents, organizations (including companies), or members of organizations.
Candidates can be jointly nominated by 20 or more Geumcheon residents or recommended by related organizations or heads of organizations in each category. Nomination forms, records of achievements, and supporting documents should be submitted to the local community service center of the candidate’s residence or the relevant department of the district office by category.
Required documents and candidate qualifications by category can be checked on the Geumcheon-gu Office website under the 'Notices and Announcements' section.
The district will select awardees through the review of the 'Geumcheon Public Merit Review Committee' and present plaques to the recipients at the 'Geumcheon Citizen’s Day' ceremony in October.
The Geumcheon Citizen Award honors individuals who serve as role models for residents through dedicated efforts in various social fields. Since its inception in 1996, a total of 111 residents have received the award through 25 ceremonies up to last year.
Yoo Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “There are many unsung heroes quietly serving their neighbors and walking alongside residents in unseen places around us. We hope you will find and recommend these hidden contributors who help make Geumcheon a happy city in every neighborhood.”
