Disability Employment Support Project Increased by 4.9 Billion Won... Expansion to Support 4,200 People [Image source=Yonhap News]


[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled announced on the 1st that it has received an additional 4.9 billion KRW in the budget for employment support for the disabled through the second supplementary budget.


The agency plans to support an additional 4,200 people. First, the number of beneficiaries for the Disabled Employment Success Package will be increased from 2,000 to 3,000. This is to actively respond to adverse conditions in the job market such as job losses due to COVID-19 and an increase in low-income disabled individuals.


In addition, the agency will expand the Disabled Internship Program (expanded by 200 to support 600), employment support for disabled students (expanded by 2,000 to support 7,000), and supported employment for persons with severe disabilities (expanded by 1,000 to support 6,000).


Cho Hyang-hyun, the agency’s president, said, "We will do our best to improve the employment situation for the disabled by expanding employment support services tailored to different groups such as persons with severe disabilities, middle-aged disabled individuals, low-income disabled persons, and disabled students."
