The Ministry of Employment and Labor announced on the 1st that it will uniformly implement customized recruitment support services by region and industry, such as the Seoul Employment Center case, at employment centers nationwide starting this month. The Seoul Employment Center demonstrated strong capability by supporting the employment success of 145 people in the travel industry, which was hit hard by COVID-19, in the first half of the year.
The center formed a 'Special Employment Support Team by Industry' to provide employment and recruitment support services to companies, job seekers, and those planning to change jobs in the relevant industries. Each center designated 1 to 3 regional strategic industries or employment crisis industries last month and is ready to provide focused support for a total of 103 industries.
The 81 regional strategic industries include automobile (parts) manufacturing, food manufacturing, electronics and semiconductor manufacturing, metal and steel manufacturing, and information and communication (IT) industries. The 22 employment crisis industries include tourism and accommodation, travel, shipbuilding, aircraft handling, aircraft parts manufacturing, and duty-free shops.
In regional strategic industries, 'good hiring companies' are intensively discovered and guided on new employment creation incentives. Job seekers suitable for regional strategic industries are identified and connected with companies, combining employment motivation and ability. For employment crisis industries, lists of those planning to change jobs are secured through industry and occupation associations and basic employment insurance data, and centers explain the system and guide them to receive employment support services via phone and email.
Companies and job seekers who want the services of each center's 'Special Employment Support Team by Industry' can visit or call the employment center for inquiries.
Kim Seong-ho, Director of Employment Service Policy at the Ministry of Employment, said, "As centers generally strengthen employment and recruitment support services, it is necessary to provide focused services for regional strategic industries and employment crisis industries. We plan to continue preparing employment and recruitment support services specialized for the field while closely monitoring employment situations by industry and region."
