Former Footballer Yeo Hyo-jin Passes Away at 38 After Battling Cancer...

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] Yeo Hyo-jin, who was selected for and played in the men's football age-group national teams, passed away at the age of 38 after battling cancer.


Yeo Hyo-jin's younger sibling, Do-eun, announced on their social media (SNS) on the 31st, "My older brother left for heaven this morning after a long and difficult fight against illness."


Yeo Hyo-jin played as a defender for the Under-20 (U-20) and Under-23 (U-23) national teams. During the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup, he caught the eye of coach Guus Hiddink and participated in the national team training as a trainee.


He began his professional career in 2006 with FC Seoul, then played for Tochigi SC in Japan's J2 League, and Busan IPark, and from 2013 to 2015, he was active with Goyang Hi FC. In December 2019, he was diagnosed with cancer and had been fighting the disease since then.
