Relentless COVID-19 Cases in Gyeongnam Reach 100... Hamyang-gun at Level 4

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Ju-cheol In] As of 5 p.m. on the 30th, Gyeongsangnam-do announced that 100 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported within the province.

By region, there are 39 cases in Changwon, 33 in Gimhae, 5 in Hamyang, 7 in Yangsan, 6 each in Miryang and Haman, 2 in Geoje, and 1 each in Jinju and Changnyeong.

Among the confirmed cases in Changwon, 2 had contact with confirmed cases related to a local manufacturing company. The cumulative number of confirmed cases related to the Changwon manufacturing company has reached 25.

Another confirmed case in Changwon tested positive while in quarantine after contact with a confirmed case related to a school and restaurant in Geoje. The cumulative confirmed cases related to the Geoje school and restaurant have increased to 30.

One confirmed case in Changwon is related to a local restaurant, bringing the cumulative confirmed cases to 85. Two confirmed cases in Changwon tested positive in pre-release tests after being quarantined due to contact with a parts factory in Haman. The cumulative confirmed cases related to the Haman parts factory are 17.

Among the confirmed cases in Gimhae, 2 had contact with confirmed cases related to Gimhae Entertainment Bar II, increasing the cumulative confirmed cases to 234.

One confirmed case in Jinju is an overseas entrant of Uzbek nationality.

More than half of the confirmed cases, 65 people, had contact with confirmed cases within the province, and 5 were infected through contact with confirmed cases from other regions such as the Seoul metropolitan area and Busan. Most contacts were family members, coworkers, and acquaintances.

One confirmed case in Changwon initially linked to a Masan entertainment bar was revised to have been infected through contact with a confirmed case within the province. The infection routes of the remaining 21 cases are under investigation.

Accordingly, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in the province has increased to a total of 7,129 (1,084 hospitalized, 6,026 discharged, 19 deceased).

Meanwhile, to minimize community infections due to the increase in confirmed cases, the Hamyang County quarantine authorities will raise social distancing to Level 4 from the 31st to August 8. Private gatherings will be limited to 2 people, and COVID-19 diagnostic testing will be recommended for all residents.
