[On-site Video] Yoon Seok-yeol: "Who Doesn't Know Martyr Lee Han-yeol?"

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon, PD Yoon Jin-geun] "Who among our peers wouldn't recognize the photo of martyr Lee Han-yeol collapsing after being hit by a tear gas canister?" (Former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol)

Yoon Seok-yeol, a leading opposition presidential candidate, officially joined the People Power Party on the 30th. On that day, Yoon personally visited the People Power Party headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, and submitted his application to Chairman Kwon Young-se. He said, "I have thought about this for a long time," adding, "To bring about a change in government, it is only right to join the main opposition party and start fairly from the initial primary."

He continued, "By doing so, I believe the People Power Party can gain broader and more universal support from the public, which led me to decide to join today."

At the press conference held after Yoon joined the People Power Party that day, a question was raised about the Democratic Party's criticism regarding Yoon mentioning the Bu-Ma uprising after seeing the photo of Lee Han-yeol.

In response, Yoon said, "I was 27 years old at the time, and my home was also near Yonsei University. Who among my age group wouldn't know the photo of martyr Lee Han-yeol hit by tear gas? It is absurd to say that I don't know Lee Han-yeol."

Meanwhile, Chairman Kwon announced that the People Power Party leadership would hold a grand welcoming ceremony next week when the entire leadership is gathered. Lee Jun-seok, the People Power Party leader, was unable to attend Yoon's joining event as he was carrying out his schedule in the eastern region of Jeollanam-do that day.
