[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chunhan] Emart announced on the 1st that its health functional food brand Biopublic has sold 170,000 units within two months of its launch.
Biopublic introduced nine basic lines of health functional foods including probiotics, vitamins, and red ginseng last June. Starting this month, it will sell water jelly products to welcome the summer season.
The water jelly products come in three types: energy jelly green grape flavor, mineral jelly grape flavor, and low-calorie jelly peach flavor. The energy jelly contains 50mg of taurine and 500mg of BCAA, while the mineral jelly includes 2.3mg of zinc, 3.24mg of iron, and 190mg of calcium. The low-calorie jelly has only 6kcal, allowing consumers to enjoy it without burden. To celebrate the launch of the new products, a '2+1' event will be held until the 11th.
Emart operates specialized integrated stores for health functional foods in 14 locations including Wolgye and Sindorim branches to increase consumer accessibility, and plans to expand to more than 20 stores within this year.
An Emart official said, “The growth rate of the health functional food market, which had been highlighted due to the aging society, has accelerated because of COVID-19. Going forward, Biopublic plans to introduce not only health functional foods but also various other products beneficial to the body.”
